TY Week5

Transition Year
07-October-19

Gaisce

Everyone should be registered for this now. Make sure you have your community activity organised. Remember it can be part of school day.ie Reading Buddies, Homework Club, Breakfast Club, YSI, Scifest, Park Run or GAA future Leaders. You must also be doing one hour Physical Activity a week. All of the above must be signed off on by an adult in charge. Did anybody take part in Park run this week? You could use half for community and half for physical.

Taking Part

I have noticed a few students who are not fully engaging in the programme. These students are on my radar. It is not a given that you get to do TY but a privilege. The payback is that you get involved in everything, put yourself outside your comfort zone and also make your best effort at whatever you are working on. Any student that is not fully engaging in the next few weeks they will be asked to join 5th Year instead. This includes being out of class without proper permission, scheming, being late or frequently absent.

Competitions

I would like to see everyone getting involved in the competitions that come up for TY throughout the year. Details of these will be posted on our facebook and /or sent to relevant teacher. If they send a poster it will be on the TY noticeboard outside the careers room. Don’t be put off by thinking they are of a high standard. They are usually fairly easy to enter, can be entered as a group and often just involve using your phone to make a video.

Pramerica Spirit of Community awards

Do you volunteer in your community? Maybe you are a carer for someone or help out with a neighbour. Maybe you work with the tidy towns, local scouts or Red Cross? If so you should put yourself forward for this award. Closing date Nov 8th 2019.
