John Paul 11 Award

This award was launched last week. Ms O’Connor has spoken to you about it. It will be easier to do this year than other years as most of the work will be completed online. You must follow Derry youth on instagram or Derry Diocesan Youth on facebook. There are no actual application forms this year, you scan a barcode on their page to download the application. Please ask your IT teacher if you have any difficulties with this. You can also email lizzie.rea@derryyouth to register. The online programme is called The Alpha Programme. Please join up as this is a wonderful addition to your CV and a talking point for an interview that many others will not have. Let Ms O’Connor know that you have joined so the school can pay your registration fee.

New Project launching tomorrow night on Zoom

Youth & Old - Understanding, Remembering and Sharing ( Back to the Future) Workshops on Zoom every Tuesday evening at 6.30pm. This project is being run by Donegal County Council and aims to keep our heritage alive by working with young and old together on collaborative investigations and projects. You need to be available every Tuesday at 6.30pm to join a zoom with DCC other adults and students. I am excluding 4A from putting their names forward at the minute as they are doing the OUR Generation programme on Mondays and you can’t do two PEACE funded projects at the same time. You will be talking, sharing ideas and working on little projects. It will not be difficult but needs commitment and students who will take it seriously. Please let Ms K McGonagle know if you would like to take part by email today as places are limited. We are lucky to be chosen to take part. Another brilliant addition to your CV. Poster attached to email.

Buncrana Youth Club

A new youth leader has been appointed at BYC and they are looking for TY to volunteer to work as supervisors and maybe work to become leaders themselves. You do not have to have a particular skill, just a willingness to help out. The hours will count towards your community for JOhn Paul and Gaisce. Please email me your name if you are interested and the leader will come over for a chat. It is hoped that outdoor activities could begin immediately. They are open to your suggestions for the club and may run activities for you to take part in too, if you have some good suggestions. Only got three names so far for this.

News Reporters

Our article should be in the Inishowen Independent tomorrow. We will be putting together another one for the beginning of December so if you are involved in any good in class activities or workshops that you think might be good to showcase please ask the teacher or facilitator can you take some photos and send them on to Ms K MCGonagle or the girls.

Gaisce

A final reminder to register for Gaisce. Nikki will pay the bill this week so everyone needs to be on it. You can log your activities online if you wish though TY in the past just filled theirs into the bronze record sheet. You do not have to do the online entries. Please make sure you are keeping up with this. Physical Activity one hour per week and Community one hour per week. Remember you can do the homework club with first years for your community.

Fetac IT

All IT classes should be starting Databases this week.

Donegal County Council Digital Media Project

This is a new project that we will be involved in with four other schools. Launching next Monday, will have more details during the week.

Choose Safety Booklets

If time allows, please distribute Choose Safety booklets to all TY students. They are in the 4B classroom. Each student should put their name on a book. Every Monday when announcements are finished in period one the class can work on these books then. Leave the books in the base room at the end of the class please.
