Volunteering
Reminding every TY student that you should be doing an hour volunteering per week. It will count towards your Gaisce Award, John Paul Award and as a great addition to your CV.
Illies FC are looking for help with their Monday night under age football from 6-8pm. Reminder also the Buncrana Tidy Towns are looking for volunteers on a Saturday morning at 10am. I know some of you are already doing this but they can always use more help. Please see Ms Dowds if you are interested.
A peer mentoring programme is starting with 1st years, It will be based on the training you completed at the start of the year. Please give your name to Ms McBride if you are interested.
All volunteering and extra activities you are involved in should be added to the volunteering log at the link below. There should be no student who has nothing entered at this stage. There have been lots of opportunities to get involved in competitions, online work experiences, helping out with activities around the school and volunteering in the community.

Europe Direct Soapbox competition
EUROPE DIRECT Letterkenny are delighted to announce that the annual Soapbox competition will take place this November. This will be a virtual event.
Soapbox is a public speaking competition where contestants have three minutes to speak and convince a panel of judges to vote in favour or against a specific topic .
This year the Soapbox competition will be held online and the topic is: “Is Europe listening to its young people?”. This is a wonderful opportunity for your students to practice their public speaking and debating skills. The competition encourages entries in both English and Irish.
There is a great prize for the winners of both categories. In addition each contestant will receive a goody bag from Europe Direct Letterkenny for participating. If you have any queries, please contact Central Library on 074 91 24950 or email europedirect@donegallibrary.ie for an entry form.
