John Paul 11 Award

Please get this set up and running with Ms O’Connor, you should have started on it by now. I know Marie from the parish office has visited some of the classes this week.

Short meeting for TY students doing the Pope John Paul Awards at 1:20 on Tuesday in Con104.

Buncrana Youth Club

As I have already said, the youth leader at BYC are looking for TY to volunteer to work as supervisors and maybe work to become leaders themselves. You do not have to have a particular skill, just a willingness to help out. The hours will count towards your community for John Paul and Gaisce. Please email your name if you are interested. They are open to your suggestions for the club and may run activities for you to take part in too, if you have some good suggestions. They are running camps over halloween and looking for volunteers.

Newspaper

Reminder I am looking for a group of students to start a school newspaper. It could be published every half term. Please let me know if you might be interested. We have two volunteers so far.

Competitions

Please can everyone enter at least one competition before midterm. Check the TY facebook, previous admin news and the emails that were forwarded to you. Everyone can enter www.graduate.ie quiz today.

Gaisce

A final reminder to register for Gaisce. I will be getting Nikki to pay the bill to them this week so everyone needs to be on it. You can log your activities just by filling them into the bronze record sheet which you print from the gaisce website. You do not have to do the online entries.

Autism Awareness

It is great to see so many of you joining the autism awareness campaign last Thursday. Please get your steps in and give what you can to help. We will be doing a group walk with Ms McElhinney and team this Thursday after lunch 2pm, to Fr Hegarty's rock. Can you all bring in some money to support this on Thursday. An overall contribution will then be made on behalf of our school community. Anybody that received a t-shirt can please wear it on Thursday for the walk.

Wild Ireland Trip

We are off to Wild Ireland on Tuesday morning, can you please wear your PE gear. We will go to our first class to have the roll taken and head to the buses at 9.15am. Can I ask you all to leave your school bags somewhere safe and out of the way. We will return to school for the 12pm class. Please pay the office 6 euro for the trip. The school is going to pay for the buses. There is a shop there however I would bring a bite to eat for your short break and a raincoat.

YSI Car wash

Well done to all the students and teachers who worked so hard at the car wash last Friday. Great fundraiser and teamwork.

Medical Work Experience

Final reminder that the RCSI online work experience week can still be registered for. The registration must be completed by your parents. The link was shared last week and sent out in the news on the app. This work experience was enjoyed by students last year particularly those that had an interest in science, nursing or medicine.

Volunteering

Well done to everyone who has been volunteering to date eg In your parish, community, Buncrana children's charity, Buncrana youth club, homework club. Green schools, cli-mates etc. Please remember that this year is your opportunity to help someone else out. It's your chance to help make a difference. Of course you should also remember it counts towards your end of year credits as well. YOu have lots of free time, maybe you can take on some extra chores at home, light the fire, lift the leaves, or make dinner. Every little helps.
