TY News Bulletin 3

05-October-20

October 5th - TY Admin

Work experience

Please hand up all work experience forms. Your class teachers will be taking over this job over now and will be contacting your employers.

Names of those who haven’t handed up a sheet will be passed onto them.

Fill in the work experience diary regularly

Only three students handed in the work for being out of work last Wednesday. Everyone must do this. I counted at least 10 students who are not in work experience. A parent must complete the form to confirm the work is completed. Can teachers please highlight those students who are not in work experience in the google sheet.

Fetac IT

This will be starting for everyone next week. Can you make sure you complete the GET SAFE WORK SAFE in your own time by mid November for your first set of results if you don’t get it finished in IT this week.

Gaisce Trips

I will try and get us out and about as soon as there is a break in the weather. We can’t go anywhere inside and it’s to rain all this week. How about a yoga or zumba class??

Youthscape programme

Youthscape started this week. As a last minute they had five extra places. I sent 5 girls from the class I had at the time. Hopefully there will be an opportunity for some of the rest of you to do the next youthscape programme.

Our Generation Programme

4A will start this programme today with Laura from Donegal Youth Service. It will run from 9.30 to 10.10 and 10.30-11.10 in the Art Room.

Our Generation will look at, and build on, cross community development which strives to further improve relations between communities in Urban Village areas and the border counties. The project will support 36,000 children, young people and adults during its duration. Children and young people will engage in programme design and delivery, including provision of peer support, developing skills and confidence to improve well-being within their communities and act as agents of change, building peace for future generations.

School Newspaper

TY compiled a school newspaper for a couple of years. Maybe this is something some of you might be interested in? In the past Siobhan the librarian helped edit and put it together so you would need a teacher to help you with it. Maybe it could be a social enterprise project.

Homework Club

If you would like to volunteer to help out with the homework club can you please give your name to Ms McBride. She will be sending a spreadsheet with the dates so fill in your name for the weeks you intend to do.

Reverse Integration Project

Please let me know if you are interested in volunteering to work with the students in Ms McElhinneys room. Email your name before Wednesday.

Facebook

Please check the facebook page as there are a number of courses, workshops, and competitions you can get involved in. I will also put some posters on the stand downstairs about competitions.

CTY DCU

Has anyone applied for this online course? There is some info about it on the TY stand

Sailing

Mr Leonard is looking at sailing for this week also.
