TY Admin 25th April 2022


Today at 10am. Students will be called by their group. Students who still haven’t put their name down please add it now to the first session 10.00-12.00.

Paddle boarding

TY Social Enterprise

These students are going to be organising a health and wellbeing initiative in the Inishowen Gateway on May 5th

They will be bringing together all the service providers in the area connected to supporting our young people with their wellbeing and mental health.

TY Geography

These students begin work at the pier on Friday working with their teacher Ms Dowds and Buncrana Tidy towns to paint a mural on the pier wall and do a general tidy up of the area. Great community work, well done.


This fantastic one day workshop will take place tomorrow Tuesday 26th of April. An opportunity for students to listen to their peers, learn techniques to deal with issues that concern them and how to support each other in a busy world. Please check out the link below.

Students will be split into two groups 4A along with

Daniel Brennan,Tara McCarron, Emma Mclaughlin, Leah Clinton, Ben McGavigan, Leja Morkeviciute, Conor O’Hagan, Aine Porter, Sorcha Rudden, Emma Stanley, Brandon Stewart, Erin Webster, and Sophie Webster. This group will be based in Room 207( Ms K McGonagle)

4B and Odhran Bradley, Robert Burns, Ruby Canning, Danielle Dawson, Zoe Duffy, Eabha Grant,Aaron Kinsella, Anastazja Malon, Danielle McColgan, Bria McGilloway, Daire McGonagle and Mollie McGonigle will be in Room 301 (Ms Sharkeys)

This will be a non uniform day for students.

Upholstery lessons - Still looking for names for this.

There is an opportunity for 10 students to learn the skills of upholstering in the school. Please email if you think this is something you might be interested in.


Are you interested in learning how to upcycle a piece of furniture? If so we have had an inquiry from a parent about running a course on this with TY students. Please email if you think this is something you would like to take part in.

Out of school Programmes

Well done to everyone who volunteered in the Buncrana Children's Charity Happy Week. Fair play to you for giving up part of your holidays to bring a bit of sunshine to your community.

Also well done to the students involved in the European Youth Parliament residential in Cork Eoin and to Sarah Bradley and Leahrose Davis on their week's work experience before Easter.


The date for your graduation evening is May 25th. Please think about your subjects and how they might be represented on the night. Also what are your talents? Is there an act, a skit or a performance we can include on the night? Looking forward to inviting all your parents to celebrate your year in TY.

Sign Language

This course continues this evening from 3.20 to 4.30pm. Please make sure you attend and can I ask anyone who hasn't paid the €15 to pay as soon as you can. There are two weeks left.


All gaisce record sheets must be in by Friday the 13th of May if you wish to get your award before you finish up for the summer. Please make sure they are signed by an appropriate person. You don't need to sign for the new skill as your IT teacher will sign for that ( if you have been keeping up with the work)

End of Year Assessment

Your summer tests in Irish English and Maths will take place on Monday 9th of May.

Please check with your teachers when you are having your end of year assessments in your other courses. I have asked that all assessments are finished by May 17th.

TY Eportfolio

Please start working on this now. You have three weeks to complete. All details have been sent to you in the google classroom and can be found on the link below also. Please ensure you have this completed and uploaded by Friday the 13th May at the latest. This is worth 50 credits and will affect your final grade.

If you have any certs to get printed for the end of the year please forward them in the google classroom entitled certs so we can start getting some printed.
