Kyle McCarron – Irish Amateur Golf Champion

Kyle1Former Scoil Mhuire students and golfer Kyle McCarron has followed in the footsteps of Rory McIlroy and been crowned Irish Amateur Golf Champion.

Kyle comes from a long family of golfers with his father, grandfather, and great grandfather all having played golf in North West Golf Club in Lisfannon.

“He is 18 years old now and has a handicap of +1, which he has strived to get to for a long time.”

Kyle has won quite a few competitions in his short career but this was his first big one, he won the 2014 Irish Amateur Golf Championship in Ardglass Co Down.

Kyle is having a great week because last Saturday in NWGC while playing in president’s prize, Kyle carded a Hole in One at the 2nd hole, a par 4 hole..360 yds, this has never been done there before so he caused quite a stir in North West for that.

Kyle played last year for the Ulster Team at the Interprovencial golf championship in Cork. He has just done his leaving certificate and is starting NUI Maynooth in Mid September, where he was offered a Paddy Harrington Golf Scholarship at Maynooth University.

We wish him all the best.
