Friday 2nd October, the Irish singing band Seo Linn were in Scoil Mhuire conducting music work shops with students from Scoil Mhuire and other local schools in the area. Three workshops took place during the day which involved ‘drumming’, ‘singing’ and ‘recording’ All students took part in all three and at the end of the day, they all came together and performed Síoraí Sparoi (Cheerleader) which was recorded live and you can listen to it here.
The day was topped off with a concert in The Plaza Ballroom, Buncrana with all funds from ticket sales were going to ‘Keep the Convent’ campaign which is currently running the school. The school needs to raise €250,000 in order to buy the Convent building, formally occupied by the nuns, to allow for extension of the school grounds and to provide more classrooms for an ever expanding cohort of students. Seo Linn were supported by local acts and students of Scoil Mhuire, The Hectics and Caitlin McLaughlin.
